plugs needed

Aug. 25th, 2006 | 02:04 pm
location: COLLEGE STATION

Okay everybody. I think we're all moved in to our dorms. We need status updates. Pronto.

As for me, my room is amazing. It's big, has a shower in it, carpet . . . nice. I love it. The only thing missing is about fifty places to plug things in. I saw a sign for a free bus to Target outside, so I may have to hop on that and go buy a power strip. My roomate is also really cool. Her name is Melissa and she left exactly half of everything in the room for me. That's how I knew she'd be cool even before we met. So anyway. It's hot. I'm waiting around until I go to a reception for one of my classes. I checked my new fabulous PO Box and got a card from my Grandma and Kate (thank you, Kate!), and a package from my aunt Carol with a lot of candy. Yum. Life is good. Everything right now is too exciting to be sad, but . . . we'll see. I'm also anxious for classes to start. And to hear about everything you guys are doing.

So don't leave me hanging.

Kristen, stay out of those dust storms.

-Kat

. . . later . . .

Okay. I found another thing wrong with our room. Broken air conditioning. Agh. However, I put in a work order for it and they "appreciate my patience" because they are "trying to fulfill many work orders promptly during this hectic first week of school". Also, I had ice cream for dinner. I'm a real college student now. OH!, and, A&M won their first soccer game against North Carolina Chapel Hill (AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!) and set a national attendence record of 8,204 people in a stadium that holds 3,000. I am proud to count myself among one of those who didn't get to go to the game BECAUSE of that attendence record. I did watch it in Brianna's room with some people though. It was fun.

Hey Everybody! I haven't talked to you in a long time. We really need to do something before everybody leaves for college! Does anybody have any ideas? I know that Kat is in Italy until the beginning of August (so unfair), but we can do something when she comes back!

Oh...and by the way...I got a new car today! It's a Silver Toyota Corolla!

Well, I have to go!

This is a big day. Kind of. On this exact day, one year ago, two important things happened. One, the London subway bombings took place. Two, I boarded a plane and went to Paris. Seeing as France didn't support the war on terror, we thought we'd be safer there. Okay, no, actually we were planning on going anyway but whatever. Paris is my favorite place in the entire world. I miss it. But it's okay! Because my flight from Houston to Itlay doesn't actually go direct from Houston to Italy. No, no, my friends, there is a brief stop. In Paris! I'm going to Paris! I'm going to see my beloved France again--from the plane--and hear my beloved French spoken--in the airport--and stare avidly through the windows at the highway that leads to . . . Paris! As one Mrs. Delacroix would say, oh joy oh rapture unforseen! (She really sticks with you, that one).

So what I have been doing is: getting my wisdom teeth yanked out, not packing, searching in vain for a job (although I have a two night stint lined up at this restaurant, maybe three if I do a good job (???)), cleaning up the messes that my neighbor's dog has been leaving on the floor (I'm being paid to take care of it, but, oh, do I hate that dog). And other things.

Leanne, if I remember correctly, wasn't it your birthday Wednesday? Yes, I'm sure it was. Happy Birthday, Leanne!

All right. Bye.

another blow

Jun. 18th, 2006 | 12:36 pm

What a cruel and heartless world this one is. Where is the love? Today they came and took Pierre (my baby), right off of his mother's nipple where he was nursing and she had her furry arm around him. On Father's Day. I know that Kitten isn't exactly a father to Pierre, but when your mother is so promiscuous that the father can't even be identified, you have to make do with what you have.

How can I be expected to deal with all of this? It's a traumatic enough summer already, without them coming and taking away some of my sources of happiness. I'm being ripped from home and my friends at the same time that my kittens are being ripped from me. Isn't it fitting? The future looks bleak and grim; only more people coming to take away my remaining kittens (Milo, Paddington Bear, and Indy).

And today I'm leaving for orientation. Which is only a reminder that I signed up for this.

gloom, gloom, gloom.

Jun. 17th, 2006 | 01:10 pm
mood: sad sad

A terrible day. Just a few minutes ago, my next door neighbor Mallory came and took her kitten home. Her name is Rory. Mallory is going to call her Molly, which doesn't sound that different, I guess, and isn't as stupid as "Carebear", which she named the last cat. (For your information, "Carebear" was actually a huge, fat, manly cat whose real name was Angus. He was a great friend, failed lover of my cat Figaro, and died in a tragic car accident.) Of course, "Molly" will always be Rory to me. Sigh. And so it has begun: the kitten leaving. I miss them.

Hello everyone, how are you today??? well i hope yall are great, I wouldnt really know because I havent seen anyone in about 3 weeks...instead I have been watching reruns (and some new ones) of tv shows and teaching kids how to swim. luckly no one has drowned yet, cool story: ok so I taught this one girl, on the first day at first she woouldnt put her head in and then by the end of the lesson she was crying because she didnt want to get out so her mom signed her up for the next lesson right after that, anyway so I taught her for two lessons a day for two weeks and she became an amazing swimmer she can swim free, back, and breast, pretty cool huh? and they gave me a gift card, which i thought was really nice, and I decided to buy her a towel b/c I felt bad for taking it(i took the little card and didnt open it until later and then i felt bad) and i bought her one and guess what she wasnt there on her last day of swim lessons and so i have to return the towel and i guess ill just have to buy myself a swim suit instead... so thats basically the only exciting thing in my life right now, other than the fact that i have lost all ability to type, well im sure yall are bored so long. At some point this summer I want to buy a laptop so I was wondering:
What kind of laptop does everyone have? Do you like it? And are there any major problems with it?

Good day, good afternoon and goodnight. I'm in Marshall, Texas. You're not supposed to know where that is. Because my family is so desperate to get together, we do this thing where we meet our relatives from Oklahoma halfway between Baton Rouge and Tulsa. This lovely halfway point happens to be Marshall, where my aunts and mom grew up. It's tiny. The Applebee's where we ate lunch is the tallest building for miles around. Howard Stern has his own category on the movie ordering thing on TV. Really. The choices are: Hollywood, Family, Adult Desires, and Howard Stern.

Anyway. I have an appeal. This site still hasn't reached the attention of Leanne, Kristen or Brooke. I don't have their numbers, and sending it to lastname.firstname isn't working. Any help in getting this to them is greatly appreciated. Peace out.

(Oh, and if anyone is interested in free wireless, just hop a bus on up here to Marshall and park near the Hampton Inn. I've typed the "top secret" access code in the subject line.)

Wow y'all this is such a great idea!

Anyway, I have to go back to SJA tomorrow to re-take that stupid AP Calculus test. How fun! This is what I really want to do with my summer.

Kate, did you ever get your job assignment next year for that Chancellor's Student Aide award from LSU? If so, I really want to know where you are working! Anyway, I'm working in the library for the community service department. That sounds like the easiest job in the world!

Oh and Amy...I think "pink sox" is a cute name for the softball team. The uniforms are going to be soo cute. Do you want a ribbon with your name to wear in your hair? My sister wants everyone to have pink ribbons with their names and numbers to wear in there hair, so I was checking to see if you wanted one!

That's about it for me!

Aimee (see I can sign my name:)

I can't believe I am actually posting on live journal but here it goes. This summer and for at least the next 4 years I will be working at Coldwell Banker Mackey Co. and this summer Aimee and I are coaching softball for the "Pink Sox." That's about it for now.

Charlie Brown

May. 22nd, 2006 | 06:51 pm
location: kitchen, flowers, sunshine

It was a day I've been thinking about distantly since I got my hepatitis boosters in sixth grade. Back then, I was able to reconcile myself with the booster because I knew that this was it: I would have no more shots until I left for college.

This would, logically, never happen. So I got the shots, and my band aid, and my lollipop, and I left feeling pretty secure in the fact that I would never again, for the rest of my life, get another shot.

Today, I got my college shots and a Charlie Brown band aid. I'm old enough to have actually reached that day I've been--distantly--dreading for six years, but young enough to be given a Charlie Brown band aid. And that is a pretty comfortable place to be, for now.

(Also, I got into the freshman honor's dorm, Lechner. I am now officially a Lech-nerd.)
